WHY WE LOVE SMALL CHURCHES
We Need Small Family-sized Congregations!
Family-sized congregations are the backbone of the Christian church.
In a family-sized church, everybody knows your name. If you miss a couple of Sundays, chances are you’ll get a phone call. Family-sized churches support each other in good times and in bad. And there are a lot of small churches.
According to PC(USA)’s website, Presbyterian churches tend to be small. Three-fourths (76 percent) have 200 or fewer members… More than half (54 percent) have 100 or fewer.
So what’s a family-sized congregation to do when faced with global, national, and denominational hostility?
Relax! You are where the action the is!
Having a plethora of family-sized churches all over the country guarantees that there’s a neighborhood church for everyone – some liberal, some conservative, some older, some younger, some with traditional worship, some with contemporary.
Small family-sized churches are not echoes from some distant past. They’re beacons drawing our diverse world to be the Body of Christ.
